Welcome to Employment Listings, a service of the

Charlotte Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. 

Employers are invited to post positions available for organists, choral directors,

church, and synagogue music directors.  Both part-time and full-time jobs are welcome. 

Listings will be published for one (1) month both in our newsletter and on this website. 

Should you wish to advertise for an additional month, you must notify Monty Bennett,

Placement Coordinator, in order to have the position listed again.

Educational requirements: Basic knowledge of liturgical worship and music traditions; broad knowledge of music theory—ability to sight read music for organ or piano; demonstrated skills in liturgical accompaniment, hymn playing and solo performance. Provide support for the entire music program for the congregation: attend and play piano/organ for all Chancel Choir rehearsals; accompany anthems, groups or solos as needed. 2. Accompany weekly services accurately and expressively: arrive early to services and rehearsals to coordinate music; work with other musicians to enrich the service; support new and old musical traditions. 3. The music ranges from selections taken from the Methodist hymnal to printed lyrics of praise songs. The chancel choir provides special music and anthems during the service.”
